Monthly Meetings?
I'm hung on this one, so I'd like your input. Should we even have monthly meetings? If so, why?
Also, would you prefer they be held on a weeknight, like the first Tuesday of every month, or on Sunday mornings, followed by a ride? (Either way, we'll still have monthly rides). The benefit of having it on a weeknight is to eliminate any delay on the weekend morning when everyone's ready to roll. It'd allow time to for collective input on topics / ride plans / etc. On the other hand, our message board seems toserve the same purpose, thus the reason why I'm hung on the issue.

You can either email your comments directly to me at morgan@mwgraphicdesign.com
or send it to everyone on the message board at coronariders@yahoogroups.com.

( Note: if you're not subscribed to the message board, you'll need to do that first.

For November:
Malcolm Smith's Annual November Dualsport Ride
I heard in the past that this is a fairly challenging day of riding in San Bernardino NF. All the info I have on it is that it's scheduled for November 10. I just called and was told the event flyers aren't available for another week. More info to come, when I have it...

19th Annual LA-Barstow-To-Vegas Run (formerly a race)
I don't think I'm up for this myself - 470 miles of offroading in 2 days, but if you are, check out:

You might gather others interested on the message board. I think pieman Stu's going.

Club-organized Track Day postponed until January
After repeated inquiries with a rep at California Speedway, he finally got back to me and their program (CSD) is no longer, at least not locally. They've informed me that www.fasttrackriders.com is still operating though. Looking at their calendar and Willow Springs, at appears that there are NEVER any track days on a weekend, anywhere. For that reason, I won't be scheduling a club-organized track day until the new year, being that personally, I've burned up my vacation days for 2002.

If you want to look into it for yourself, check out:

September 6-8 weekend at Crab Flats
Despite threats of thunderstorms, the weather turned out great and we had 6 riders and a couple families there. Really fun trails, with wild variance from easy fireroad to highly-difficult single-track with hairpin switchbacks up steep faces, not to mention the trails being covered in rather large rocks. I dropped twice in a span of 10 mins. The main trail, #3N24 that heads north out of Crab Flats is plenty enough fun. It has it's tricky places, but much more scenic and plenty of stretches to recoop from brief panics. The stream-crossing was certainly refreshing for the crotch rash. We'll definitely do more weekend camps here, once it opens back up next May.

I think Ken took some shots. Ken - if you did, would you post them in our message board photos?

Moto Des Nations Cancelled
If you've been following the news on this, the event was cancelled on 9-20, due to a court-battled, land-rights issue with the Soboba Reservation. I think I've got that correct. Anyway, the event was just moved to spain in a few weeks. Major let-down for So.CA MX fans. Well, there's the US Open in Vegas coming up, in case you feel the need to witness more Carmichael dominance. I'm convinced he's not going to have much trouble until James Stewart someday moves up to 250 class. That'll be the battle to see.

Chaparral Annual Monster Block Sale - cash only
Yep, their 16th annual big day is Sept 28, 8am - 3pm:
http://www.chaparralmotorsports.com and click "events".
I'll be roaming the booths, corrupting my 2-year old daughter into lusting motogoodies.
