The 1st link has contact info for the hotels. By the way, the Ramada Inn in Barstow is almost sold out.

I'll be doing only Day 1 myself, but others are doing both days. If you want to join me for day 1, let me know.
Sorry for not announcing this sooner. If you're subsribed to our message board though, you've already more than you wanted to.

News heard from Paul Flanders (AMA D-37) about route changes:
Friday Day 1 route will have parts similiar to the 1998 route in that it will now go to the El Mirage Dry Lake area. We will have to bypass the San Bernardino National Forest. The route will work its way up past Glen Helen on surface streets. Then we've got to get on the I-15 freeway for a mile or so to go past the truck scales. (Funny how's there's no surface streets that bypass the scales!). Turn off right away on Hwy 138 to Highway 2 and pick up the1998 course just north of the forest there. Then it's on to El Mirage, Silver Lakes for lunch, Stoddard Valley, Lucerne Valley, and pick up the originally planned route (same as 1999) from there to beautiful, downtown Barstow.

For Day 2, we'll have a little different route before and after Afton Caynon. Afton Cyn. is so beautiful and every other way around there is not, so we'll probably use it every year unless we can ever get back into the Mojave Preserve area.
After Baker, we'll go to Sperry Wash, up next to Dumont Dunes, rather than Kingston Wash. We're pretty much set on using Kingston or Sperry in alternating years. Then into Sandy Valley for lunch at a different location. Woods has lined up the Sandy Valley school PTA to do the lunch at the community center as a fundraiser for them.  From there we go to Red Rock via the 1999 route. Red Rock and Afton Canyon are both so scenic that we will probably want to have them every year! Then alternate between Kingston and Sperry washes. If we can ever get the Mojave Preserve to open up to us, that would give us a little more variety to chose from. Before 1995 the route went through that area almost every year.

Grand Opening Party for MotoExotics Nov. 9 (today)
Announced at a recent Bike Night of the So.CA RAT club, this shop is some distance from Corona (Brea), but has quite an interesting inventory of exotic bikes to see that, as far as I know, can't be found anywhere else in the area. Anyone interested in riding out there that afternoon to check it out? Let me know.

Press Release info:
MotoExotics is an authorized Benelli and MZ dealer. The addition of Cannondale enhances our product selection. These brands are non-competing which allows us to focus on each brand individually. The Grand Opening event for MotoExotics is on Saturday, November 9th, 2002, 9am to 5pm.
