Thank you to those of you that came to our first meeting back on April 6. We had a turnout of about 10, which isn't bad, considering our membership was 27 at that point. Anyway, it was great getting to meet for the first time and I look forward to future club meetings. If you live nearby, please join us, and bring a friend. The next meeting will be held at Grazziono's Pizza in June. The date and other info is not yet determined.
| Who: | All offroad and dualsporting members, including family and friends! |
| What: | Weekend desert camp at Troy
Meadows (near Kennedy Meadows,
in the Sequoia NF)
I've heard this is absolutely fantastic riding. I haven't been yet, myself. If you offroad, you don't want to miss it. I was told by the ranger that it's being CLOSED for the summer on 5-28, right after our weekend. |
| Where: | About: Paved roads; 73 units including
10 suitable for RV's up to 20'; restrooms; piped well water; no trash collection.
Elev. 7,800 feet. $5 per night site fee. There IS a large overflow camp
area. Reservations are not accepted. Everything is first come/serve,
but we should be able to get some space. Spark arrestors and current red
or green stickers are required for unplated bikes. Please bring all
of your own food, beverages, camp supplies. Trout fishing there is
the best, if you're into it. Sorry, no idea what the weather will be like.
Plan for unpredictable weather.
Location: 53 miles northeast of Kernville via Mtn. 99 and Sherman Pass Rd. (22S05), or 34 miles west of Hwy. 395 via Nine Mile Canyon Rd. (J41). Directions (as narrated by their ranger station): From whereever, get yourself to the 395 North. Take it until you've passed Pearsonville. 5 miles past Pearsonville, you'll come upon a Kennedy Meadows sign. Take a left there for about 22 miles. When you come to a "Y" in the road, follow the signs for Troy Meadows. When you get to the campgrounds, look for a big banner with our club logo on it hung at our camp (see logo above). |
| When: | May 25 - 27, 2002 (I should bethere by 1pm on the 25th, posting the club banner.) |
| Other: | PLEASE
RSVP using the POLL on our homepage.
NOTE: If and only if Troy Meadows is FULL, please backtrack to Kennedy Meadows campgrounds and look for the club banner there. I've been told that space at Troy should not be a problem though, with the overflow area. If you need further info about the camp area,
here's some contacts:
If you know this area and would like to volunteer
as a trail guide, let me know at the camp.
