Hi Everyone

For the first time, this newsletter is getting out in advance. If you're not into dualsporting or at least interested in it, this newsletter won't be of much interest to you. Sorry. We'll have a roadbike track day (Mike?) or road ride in April, followed by an all-offroad camp in May. By the way, regarding some recent complaints, if we don't have enough events to cater to your interest, volunteer to plan something. I'm not getting paid to do this and I don't always have the time to plan as much as I'd like to and keep everyone happy. If you're not willing to help fix a problem, I'm not interested in your whining. That being said, read on...

March Dualsport Ride (Ride 4 Kids fundraiser)
The Ride 4 Kids dualsport event out of Glen Helen is coming around again (20th year). If you own a dualsport, please join us. I forgot to mention last month that there is a minimum of a $35 donation at the ride. If you can gather other donations to contribute along with yours, even better.
Click here for full reg info.
More info on the event: http://www.ride4kids.org/sanBernardino/index.htm

Who: Everyone on a street-legal dualsport!
What: Roll-chart guided DUALSPORT ride through San Bernardino forestry around Glen Helen.
- Pancake breakfast with your registration donation!
- The self-guided roll chart ride is approximately 90 miles.
Where: The ride starts and ends at Glen Helen Raceway.
If you'd like to caravan-ride there fully-geared on your bike, I'll be at Coffeetown at 7 a.m.
We'll take off by 7:20 a.m.
CoffeeTown info:
1511 Rimpau Ave. (cross street: Magnolia), Corona. 909-280-0500. Map HERE.
When: Sunday, March 16, 2003
Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 8:30 a.m. Presentation at 8:45 before ride start.
Other: Roll chart holder - you'll need one. I know Chaparral carries them and probably Malcolm Smith Motorsports to. They cost anywhere from $14 (manual, plastic) to a terrible wallet rape of about $650 (electric, carbon fiber).
If you've never used a roll chart before, don't worry, it's easy. If you don't have a tripmeter or odometer, your roll chart will be difficult to use. Stick with the group of us or at least with somebody that has one. The route also has all turns ribbon-tagged to help you out. More info on suggested roll chart holders HERE.

Note: There may be a sound check at this event. If you've got a loud pipe, I wouldn't suggest coming with it.
This ride does go very nearby a few houses and I believe D37 was granted permission by these people. If you have a pipe with a disc system, 6 disks or less is probably a safe bet. If you have a stock pipe, you're probably safe. If I'm not mistaken, the sound limit is 96dbA. See article below on new CA law.

Tip From Ken Z - When you sign up for the ride, be sure to put Corona Riders as your sponsoring club. They will announce how much cumulative $$ we contribute. The PR couldn't hurt.

New To Dualsporting?
What To Stuff In Your Backpack Or Fanny Pack...
Last month I said I'd do something in the March newsletter to help new dualsporters prepare. To help you get started, below is a list of suggested items to carry in a pack on a dualsport ride. This list was compiled of my own items and input from a few people, including items from an article written by Tom Niemela of Black Dog Dualsport. Honestly, I might carry about half of this on what I consider a well-prepared ride. Attempting to carry all of it would not only look rediculous, but you'd be so overloaded that the ride would no longer be enjoyable. If you find another rider in an organized dualsport event that looks overloaded, make 'em your new best buddy. They'll likely have what's needed to save your butt on the trail and everyone else's to.

For those experienced at this and have suggestions that I've overlooked, feel free to email me on what you carry. I'll update this list for a future newsletter.

Stu - Want to write something on things to trick out on your bike for the optimal dualsporting experience?
Anyone else with expertise on the topic?
We really should have more than just my viewpoint in these newsletters.

April Road Ride - Track Day?
This is yet to be planned.
Mike - how about a weekend track day? Want to set this up?
If so, we could have a quick survey to find interest now.
If we get a confirmed head count soon, maybe we can reserve a weekend day well in advance.
California Speedway in Fontana would be ideal, but anywhere in So CA would do.

May Offroad Weekend Camp - El Mirage
This is being planned by a member. Info to come.
